Cherry Hinton High Street, Cambridge

Preparation of design options for the redesign of the whole length of the busy High Street, based on the findings of community consultation and prioritised according to available budgets.

Although a traffic calming scheme was put in place 20 years ago to address problems of speeding and accidents, there is now a strong local desire to create a more attractive High Street. The speed limit will be reduced to 20mph as part of a city-wide project. The exising narrow cycle lanes will be increased in width and made continuous where possible, and with improved junctions and pedestrian crossing facilities as part of a new shared priority approach to the street.
