New Ross Public Realm Plan

Preparation of a plan to help meet the public realm objectives of the Town & Environs Development Plan 2011, and to assist in making New Ross a distinctive place to live, work and visit.

 

Initiatives were required to encourage the redevelopment of under-utilised and derelict sites in the town centre; to promote the improvement of open spaces, and wider links to the surrounding areas; proposed streetscape improvements; recommendations for building frontages; improved legibility; approach road enhancements; and a palette of materials for surfaces, lighting, signage and interpretation.

 

Consultation with key stakeholders and the local community was an important part of the plan-making process and for achieving a ‘shared vision’ for the town’s public realm proposals.
